Project Folding@home (sometimes abbreviated as FAH or F@h) is a distributed
computing (DC) project designed to perform computationally intensive simulations
of protein folding and other molecular dynamics (MD). It was launched
on October 1, 2000, and is currently managed by the Pande Group,
within Stanford University's chemistry department, under the supervision
of Professor Vijay Pande. Folding@home is the most powerful distributed
computing cluster in the world, according to Guinness, and one of the world's
largest distributed computing projects. The goal of the project is "to understand
protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases.
Folding@home does not rely on powerful supercomputers for its data processing;
instead, the primary contributors to the Folding@home project are many hundreds
of thousands of personal computer users who have installed a small client program.
The client will, at the user's choice, run in the background, utilizing otherwise unused
CPU power, or run as a screensaver only while the user is away. In most modern
personal computers*, the CPU is rarely used to its full capacity at all times
the Folding@home client takes advantage of this unused processing power.
The Folding@home client periodically connects to a server to retrieve "work units",
which are packets of data upon which to perform calculations. Each completed work unit
is then sent back to the server. As data integrity is a major concern for all distributed
computing projects, all work units are validated through the use of
a 2048 bit digital signature.
*)you can run FAH client in Playstation®3 system too.
It is integrated into the Life with Playstation feature.
After downloading 50Megs of necessary data, the graphic
interface starts and the folding began (WU).
Today... allmost 74% of computing time supply PS3 consoles.
Folding@home & Alienspapercraft II:
How is this thing goes with papercrafts?
I get a mail with the financial support from a fan sometimes.
He (she) want to give some money to run this pages.
It is sad that PAY-PAL service doesn´t work fo my country
Thanks for your money ,bu I can´t accept it.
(Thanks for all donators this way)
The truth is, that I hate to put the "Donate" button at my pages.
It is the same as, you can´t support your family.
I´ve searched for the way out.
The PlayStation®3 console helped me.I saw the Folding@home running in it.
You can write the donor and folding team into it.
That´s it....I found a way".
So, If you want to support Me and want to sympatize with Alienspapercraft
pages, just compute for Alienspapercaft team.
If you join ALIENSPAPERCRAFT team, you will make a support...
(And make a good thing for mankind...sure :o)
It is like moral support for me.
If you want Folding@home client and want to find a cure and support me
just download the FAH client from Folding@home/Download
and keep reading.....
folding with Alienspapercraft team:
After downloading and installing PC /PS3 client, just go to the options menu and find
Team number / Team ID and enter 131810
Next usefull thing is your User name / Donor , where you type your nick,
which will be shown in the final statistics(after computing more than one WU).
1. Alienspapercraft - My PlayStation®3 console..............................
I like to play (MGS4,GT5-Prologue,Resistance,Folklore, Wipeout HD...)
,but most of the day the FAH client is running
2. Alienspapercraft2 - My PC (Pentium 4 -2,6Ghz). I am surfing on it,
making graphics and web pages...and computing folding@home
Well... I found one interesting aspect. When the machines will be computing and WU number will be increasing, you can be sure that I live.
